Derek Butler

I am choosing to write about Chuck Noland. The reason i am choosing to write about Chuck is because he was all alone on the island. Yes i think that he completed the heroes journey.

Chucks Separation: His calling is when he gets the phone call from his work to go work in Europe. The threshold he doesn't want to leave because he will miss his wife. The descent is when he gets on the plane and leaves. I think that was all it because it that's what happened through the beginning of the story/movie.

Chucks Initiation: The abyss is when the plane crashed, and he fell into the ocean with the raft. The mentor in the story is Wilson because that is his best friend and he helps him get through everything. The transformation is when he learns to be independent and rely on himself. Those are the things that were going on in the movie at the time he got there.

Chucks Return: Chuck gets created into a more responsible, and more self-reliant guy. The thing is that when he gets home his whole life is different then when he left, because his wife has a new husband and two kids. In the end, though his wife comes back to him he still doesn't get his same life back.

I explained who Chuck Noland was and how he survived with the hero's journey. Chuck did finish the hero's journey with all the stuff he went through. This was a really good movie to me and it was amazing to me that he survived on a deserted island alone.
