Hero's Journey Essay

My paper is about Phillip in the story the Cay. It is about Phillip he is the main character in the story. He completed a Hero's Journey because he kept himself alive and Timothy alive as well.
The seperation in the story was by Phillip gettin seperated from his family and Timothy saving him. Phillips calling is him learning how to build a shelter and learning how to fish. Timothys threshold was when his eye started to hurt and then the next day he went blind. The island had a descent on it.
The initiation in the story was when Phillip made a voodoo doll. the abyss was in the water. Phillip was a mentor to timothy by teaching him how to fish. Timothy's transformationwas by him not liking African Americans and fron that experience he learned that there is nothing different about them.
Phillips return was by him turning into an endependant person. he learned how to do things that he wouldnt be able to learn on his own or in the city. phillip completed a Hero's Journey by him stayin alive for as long as he could and also takin care of Phillip when he went blind. he also finished a heros journey by feedind himself and phillip.
